In my last post, I talked about compliance and how we’ve designed Carmen to be safe, secure, and trustworthy. But I want to flip to the other side of the coin today — the human side.
Because even though Carmen is AI, we’ve given her something a little unexpected: a personality.
Collections Is a Tough Job
Let’s be honest: collections isn’t easy. It’s one of the toughest jobs in financial services. Collectors spend their days having difficult conversations, often with people who are stressed or frustrated. It can take a toll.
So we asked ourselves: what if Carmen could make the experience just a little lighter?
A Touch of Humor and Humanity
Carmen isn’t just a voice behind a button. We’ve designed her to interact in ways that feel approachable — even playful at times.
For example, one idea we’ve toyed with is having her drop a small joke when insurance comes up, like a nod to “Flo” from the Progressive commercials. Something light, something human, something that makes the user smile for just a second.
It’s not about being silly. It’s about creating moments of connection that break up the monotony of configuration screens and queues.
Why Personality Matters in Software
When people enjoy using a tool, they use it more. And when they use it more, they get more value out of it. Personality isn’t just a nice-to-have — it builds attachment.
If a bank or credit union is ever weighing their options between systems, we want their team to say: “We can’t imagine working without Carmen.” That kind of loyalty doesn’t come from features alone. It comes from experience.
Looking Ahead
Carmen’s personality is just one way we’re making collections technology more approachable. But we’re not losing sight of the serious side.
In my next post, I’ll shift gears again to talk about the future — how faster implementations and smarter configurations can help institutions get up and running with SAFIRE-IQ in days, not months.
