Balancing Technology and Touch: The Human Side of Banking Innovation
By Dee Windom, Client Services | Intelligent Banking Solutions
If you asked me what I do at Intelligent Banking Solutions, I could give you the short version:
“We’re a collections software company that helps collection teams work through their day in a more efficient manner.”
That’s true, but what I really do goes beyond software.
My days are filled with people, not just support tickets. Collectors spend their days having difficult conversations. They deal with pressure, frustration, and deadlines. That’s why I make sure that when they hear my voice, they also hear calm, understanding, and empathy.
Listening Is the Real Solution
I’ve learned that most of the time, people don’t just need a fix. They need to be heard. They need someone who says, “Okay, not a problem. We’ll figure it out.”
Sometimes that means I’m part problem solver and part psychiatrist. And honestly, I love that part of the job.
I don’t just answer a question and move to the next call. I listen. I let people vent. I give them a moment to breathe before we tackle the issue together.
You’d be surprised how far that goes in the financial institution technology world. In fact, I think that’s why so many of our customers stay with Intelligent Banking Solutions. They know that when they reach out for help, they’ll find someone who genuinely cares about their success.
The Human Side of Technology
It’s easy to think that automation can solve everything. Don’t get me wrong, technology like our SAFIRE-IQ platform and Carmen can make a huge difference. These tools help our customers streamline workflows, save time, and reduce errors across loan collections management and credit union operations.
But even the smartest software can’t replace a human voice that listens.
That’s the heart behind what we do at Intelligent Banking Solutions. We use technology to make people’s jobs easier, not to remove them from the process. When a customer discovers a new feature or has that “aha” moment during training, that’s a win. But it’s even better when they realize we’re right there beside them, ready to help them take the next step.
Connection Is Our Competitive Advantage
I’ve been with Intelligent Banking Solutions for more than a decade, and one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to relationships. Our team works together closely with a mindset of “What can I do to help?” rather than “That’s not my job.”
We sit in each other’s client conference presentations. We back each other up on tough days. And that teamwork shows up in how we serve customers.
When clients tell us, “You all are just so good with each other,” I know they can feel that same collaboration in the way we treat them.
That’s not something you can automate.
Moving Forward With Heart
The future of banking software is exciting. Tools like SAFIRE-IQ and Carmen show how intelligent automation can empower collectors and managers. But as we move forward, our challenge is to keep the balance between technology and human connection.
As automation becomes more advanced, empathy and communication will always be what sets Intelligent Banking Solutions apart. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about solving software issues or improving productivity. It’s about helping people do their jobs better and feel supported while doing them.
That’s what makes me proud to do what I do. That’s the heart behind the software.
